Not had a new GFX card for ages so I decided to get one and went ATI, just installed my shiny new 4870HD  Will elt you know how good it is later.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

i got the 4850 not too long ago and its pretty decent, liam uses the 4870 i think. They overclock pretty well too using the Override thing in the catalyst control center, sorts it all out for you automatically. if you do decide to run the override, you can manually increase the fan speeds to keep the temperate down, theres a guide here. easy to do, just need to create a profile and change some numbers in the .ini file.

cool ta, I'll stick with default for now though. will most likely over-clock once I'm used to it.

System has hung a couple of times while I've been afk, bit worrying, not sure why.

pissing me off now, solid as a rock and fast as feck in games but if I leave my machine for an hour, when I come back it's hung :/
Turned power saving off, still hung.
Can't see the screen-saver causing it

strangely I had a feeling that it might be the screen-saver so I changed it and it hasn't hung since.
