I'm looking at going back to a dual monitor setup again as widescreen monitors are so damn cheap now. I would be running my existing 1680x1050 monitor and looking at getting another of the same res. I have a 7800gtx at the moment and was wondering if any of you knew if this would run 2 screens at that res ok while playing say TF2 as well. Anyone know of any sites that shows this sort of stuff ?
Obviously I'm going to be upgrading the rest of my pc next year but for now I just need to know about my setup.

I just went for a single 1920, I did try it with a 1680 as well, Supreme Commander runs well on that setup with my 8800GTS
I'm sure TF2 will run ok in one screen while you have irc etc in another

well the price of a new 1680x1050 19" widescreen (I have a Dell one currently) is like £130 with a 5ms refresh which is a nice price really. I did want it just for IRC etc on the other so it looks like i'll have a go with that

Will be fine, make sure you get a DVI one and have a dual DVI gfx card!
If you use one on VGA, the picture can degrade quite badly when two monitors are attached.

yeah it's a dual dvi 7800 gtx 512mb, I was hoping to get another one of my dell ones as I really like this but I can't find another on any sites. I have the dell 2005fpw but I guess it's been replaced or something now.

Ive always ran dual monitors and never had any kind of performance hit running any games, including tf2 in any res. I would'nt worry about that at all.

I got my dell WS from Aria.co.uk, not that i would buy from them again as they had the same tft on the site at two diffrent prices and i payed £100 more then i was expecting , but still cheeper than dell and imo the best place from tfts, as you can pay and extra bit and have them check there are on dead pixels for you Oh and if you come across as 12" or smaller one on your travels, feel free to hook me up , my desk isnt big enough for another full size one.

I buy a lot of stuff from Aria yeah. They've always been helpful and fast at shipping stuff and their prices are pretty good on most things as well.

I can't recommend the SAMSUNG 226BW enough. Both my housemate and myself have one. 22inch 2ms response. Great picture (although do make sure you set it up properly with a colorsync program.) It's won lots of awards to and is prob the best bang for buck monitor out there. On AmazonOverclockers with great reviews

looks nice scrappy, I might get some santa money and put towards it so I don't spend all my upgrade money on just a monitor. Then i'll use my Del one as the secondary screen as it's 16ms and use that as the primary.
Cheers.

Got the monitor today - the colours and clarity own my Dell, and it's even bigger which is nice. I'm pleased with it - thanks Scrappy The only things I don't like are the bad viewing angles - if you move to the side even a bit it goes bright which my dell doesn't do. Also it doesn't have a height adjustable stand - so i've got it sat on my amp which luckily puts it the exact height I have my Dell set too Recommended monitor though, very sexy.

Glad you are pleased with it mate. I don't have probs with the viewing angles on mine, but I guess that depends on what brightness you got it set to or something. Mind you I have mine on the desk so I'm never really viewing it apart from when I'm sat in front.

yeah I know it's not a big deal but when you like sit upright or at a different place it can look strange - but it's nothing to cry over for most of the time.
