Guys I see a lot of you running 22" monitors , is it worth spending an extra £80 for a 24" screen . I don't fancy the extra load on a GFX card & as it stands right now unless the ATI/AMD r670 pulls a decent speed it looks like I will invest £300 notes on an OEM 8800 GTX. Not sure even a GTX is man enough to run Bioshock or Cysis on a 24" screen with all the eye candy turned up & so my gut feel is 22" is the way to go unless someone can give me a good tale around going 24".
BTW I tend to use the PC for photo editing & gaming .
Thoughts on a postcard please.
P.S. My Mobo wont run SLI & I doubt I will ever bother with it .

By 24" I assume you mean 1920*1200 Native res.

I have one and it's superb, working with Windows is just awesome at this res and don't worry about running games at non-native resolutions, as long as you keep aspect ratio you don't lose that much fidelity.

I run bf2142 at 1680*1050 on this and it looks fantastic. (It run ok at 1920 anyway but a little bit too slow for me)

Don't waste your money on a 1680 screen it always was a weird resolution. Go for a 1920 for sure, both me and Stan will definitely recommend this BenQ very highly.

Agreed, get the biggest/best monitor in your price range and forget about frame rates, you can always run at a lower lower res, just not higher.

Not tried a 24" but I have a SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms Screen. Paid $350 for it. Took me a little while to get the colour right but once that was done it looked great. Only prob I can see is in the future not being able to watch 1080p movies on it. But I find the blacks are good, there's no ghosting what so ever. Very happy with it. Just need my 8800GTX now so I can play the new sexy games.

Unless you've got money to burn I can't see the point in getting a 24" personally. A 22" is pretty darn big still, and for PC/gaming uses I can't see it being that necessary. The prices also go up quite rapidly after around 22" so when I got mine a few months ago it seemed a good price/performance sweet spot. I also like that the resolution is 1680x1080, any higher and I would be using lower graphics settings to keep a good fps. I wouldn't run a lower resolution due it making text so much less crisp. If watching video/films was a priority then I'd agree with the bigger the better comments.

Insidently I have a BenQ too, the FP222WH 22" which is down to a much more reasonable £200inc for a brilliant screen (imho).

Oh nooo, the 24" 1920*1200 is awesome an well worth the money tbh, especially if it's also a work machine.

I'm sure its a great screen but don't think it's well worth the money. Also if it's a work machine then it's not coming out of your pocket anyway

Did too, I work at home.

You really need to use one for a while before you can say it's worth it or not really.

Its all relative at the end of the day, most people would think owning a 8800gts a waste of cash, or a quad core cpu, or what ever.
If you use a product alot and get enjoyment out of it, then you it was worth the money, I love my 24 inch benq, wish the framing wasn't silver tho.

Very true, both comments.. but since it has been rather 24" biased topic I thought it worth pointing out a 22" is still very good. Unless you can justify (for whatever reason) an extra £100+ for a 24" screen then you are still going to be happy with a 22".
