XFX nForce 650i Ultra MCP = £61.02 OCZ (OCZ2P800LP2GK) 2Gb PC2-6400 DDR2-800 4-4-4-15 DFI Certified Platinum ( certified to run on T1 command ) = £65.94 Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.86ghz Socket 775 FSB800 2MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor £61.89 Point Of View 7600GT 256mb DDR3 DVI HDTV TV ( had to get this as a temporary measure ) £ 53.57 Total = £176.48 !
I may have relayed the fact that my back up PC died , well I thought lets rebuild & go dual-core . I could have gone SLI but I thought the o/c benefits of the 650i Ultra would benefit me more. Will let you all know how this O/C's (I went E4300 for that nice O/C friendly 800 FSB ) . The irony is that the 7600GT is faster than my 6800 Ultra which cost me £325 a couple of years ago ...

LOL you where both AMD men last time I looked ( makes a note not to buy any new kit any more ... just buy up other peoples seconds) Mani I thought you where very anti Overclocking I thought about going for the revised CPU but this is a tactical purchase & thought it would be wiser diverting the cash into a GFX card which would give me some gaming capabilities . Reo what did you do with your X2 4200+ dude ?

Sorry WUD I should have said ex VAT so it comes to around £200 including VAT ( postage was free btw ) As for your rig Stan ... the FX57 with 7800GTX is still a good card m8 but the resale is no going to be to great this is what I recon : FX57 = about £90 - £100 its fast but only a single core Asus a8n sli premium = £30 - £40 that's what I have seen on eBay 7800Gtx = £60 ( you can get a new 7900GS for £89 ) 2 gig of Ram £60 so I would market the lot for = £240 ... its the card which is of value , the rest does not stack up

Those are multiplier unlocked yes? Sure I've seen people hit 3ghz with those things easily, great value for a second rig tbh.

The multies are not unlocked Mate but the 800 FSB means it is more OC friendly ( the FBS is less likely to flake out when you wind her up to the silicons limit have some of this you quad core !

Very happy indeed with this duo setup, so smooth and so much quicker. Superb at streaming hi def content as well, and the tagan psu I bought with the shielded power cables has improved picture quality quite alot as well.

It runs fine on 2gb, but tbh I want it to run like a dream which means 4gb of ram + a flash drive permanently in caching things

Well she is it up to 3.2 Ghz on 1.44v with stock fan & I can probably tweak the CPU up further but I cant be assed as the platform is stable. Going forward I will work on maxing out the RAM speed & bringing down the CPU voltage. Vista runs well and I like a lot of the features on this platform the main ones being lots of information on what my PC is doing and the improved navigation. The dilemma is that RAM utilisation is high at nearly 600Mb when idle & the fact I cannot run virtual drives such as Demon tools which I use a lot because most of my software is backed up to image files & I tend to install some apps from my HD & I am not talking moody software peeps I just not like bloating my Raptor with apps I use once a year. If some GFX benchmarking I am going to do this weekend go well I may stick with it & just buy more another couple of GIG of Ram. Vista is here to stay & there will be a time where I will need to move over to that platform but that is countered by the fact it may be a good 18 Months before the real benefits of DX10 incentives me to up grade the card.
