They will have to make it work ALOT better than sli currently does, to say I was less than impressed by my sli would be a understatement.

nothing on Vr-zone is believable these days I can think of 4 times this week already they have published something fake or just made up if you follow ther references its always to a site in china you cant read or load and it turns out to be a forum post by an 8 year old to have 8 sli's would take just about every area of manufacturing to be in colaberation from mobo psu case it would need special circuits in your house for the 5kw of power your PC would need and then it would cost astronimical amounts to run in electricity...

8x00 series will be able to support multi-GPUs SLI by linking up 4, 6 to 8 cards or more. 8 cards in 1 motherboard is not feeable this is clearly an ill thought out post on an unbelievable site ... there is a similar news story on the inquirer about 3 sli cards which is more believable but the idea that more and more cards can be bolted together is stupid there really isnt enough space or power for more then 2 gx2's in a PC multi gpu or just better gpu cards is the only way to go and im sure anythign that suggest otherwise is just bull

Well for a start sent when there is a new motherboard standard everything does get changed with it, down to the size of case and the new adapters on the psu etc. I aint saying I believe it, but the way you are talking you are making it sound impossible which I doubt it is. They could get rid of pci slot and just say 6 pci-e slots, and not every g card plugged in would need to be a 8800gtx maybe they could have a lower spec one just to cope with say the phsyics. Seeming they say dual 7950gx2's is quad sli, you would only need four of those to have 8 lots of sli wouldnt you. No if you sit back and think about everything I would think you could do it, hell we are already at 1kw psu's out there so who says what will be possible in the future.

there's already a board with 3 PCI-e 16x slots, this new SLI is designed for those to begin with, but also for multi-GPU cards on top of that.

dx10 card use a single pcie 16x socket to them selves you cant double them up in a Gx2 fashion they also draw 200-300 watts of power so while 3 single gpu cards is feesable with a 1200 watt PSU no more than that could be achieved you might be able to do it with older cards but there wouldnt be any point as 2 new dx 10 cards in sli is the equivilent to 4 gx2's anyway
1 dx10 card is enough for anyone at the moment the rest is just wastage unless your making a cgi movie
