Well its not often i need to come in this part of the forums...
but well... my 6600GT went pop about 45mins ago and im currently using a DX7 card so i can at least '"use"' my pc.

i am still saving to get a new rig so i dont want to be spending too much on a new AGP card.

just wondering if anyone has any sugestions for a cheep and cheerful AGP card that will play BF2, and Dawn of War, until i get my new rig in about 4-5months when the next lot of processors & GPU's come out.

Another 6600gt? 7600GT? ATI X1650XT?

I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

yeah i might end up getting another 6600gt, because downgrading is a bit stupid... and not much cheaper..

but again £60 for a gfx card for 3-4months is a bit silly

My old 9800 pro AGP card went bang the other week so i went and spent £150 on a X1950 pro AGP card, just to keep me going for six months until i upgrade to PCI-e, etc.

Its a choice between these three i think (since nowhere else i looked had AGP cards anymore :< well scan did but i dont like waiting 5days for stuff)

since the price diffrence of a shitty 9550 and these is less than £20 :/

bit dubious with the ATI card because ive heard very little good about them recently.

as for the 7600GS 512MB one - is it on par with the 256mb GT?

I was also contemplating that ATI X1650 card, but didn't want to wait for the delivery so i went out and got this...

Superb card, runs anything and everything full settings. Only problem is my old Athlon XP 2800+ and 768MB RAM lets the side down.

Just bought the BFG 7600GS 512MB Card.

it seems like the best performance upgrade because the increased memory on the GFX card will help with smoothing out my games.

Overclockers £111.75 inc vat & Royal mail special delivery (**** city link they suck balls)

I looked elsewhere but overclockers was not only the cheepest UK retailer, but they had the fastest delivery option too.

Bit late now but my housemate has had two X1950XT AGPs in the past month. Both have gone wrong. He's no running a 7900GS OC and has no probs as of yet. Although the 7900 is a lot more expensive than 110 quid.

He must be unlucky. I've had my X1950 for a few weeks now and not had any problems, *touch wood* What happened to his AGP cards specifically?

At least it died fighting - literally, it died as i was playing DoW:The Dark Crusade.

It was just fine one second - flickered twice and laid itself to rest.

ive checked everything, and their are some small burn marks around the GUP core and a few resistors have.... melted.
