Im browsing the ocuk site looking at new HDD's and i keep seeing 2mb or 8mb cache.

1. What does this mean ?
2. Any other decent places out there that can beat ocuk on price ?

Usually 8mb cache drivers are a lot faster than 2mb cache drives, and more expensive.

Cheapest place for HDD's in UK is probably scan, http:/www.scan.co.uk.

If you can afford it, go for 2 SATA drivers and run em in RAID 0 (Assuming your mobo supports it) You can get 2 smaller cheaper drivers then and still have 1 large one, if you get me.

I have 2 of these in RAID-0

LN5013 120Gb Seagate Barracuda Serial ATA (ATA-150) (7200rpm, 8MB Cache) 3yr £61.25 Ex VAT
£71.97 Inc VAT

Have to say I'm pretty happy with them, fast, quiet and a 220GB Striped Raid-0 Array.

get your asrse down to your local CPU fair

and you can grab a maxtor 160gb w/8mb cache sata for about £70

or a 160gb w/8mb cache ata for like £65

or a 120gb w/8mb cache ata £58

120gb sata. im not sure about "never stocked them"

80 and 40 gb hdd's are going @ around 30-45 £ depending on type and cache

these are the going prices @ most computerfairs up north " trust me i worked @ them till last month "

it should cos like £2 on the door and prices are inclusive of VAT

there the best place to go for new stuff " a gaming system with 17" flat tft is like £450 w/ KB mouse Xp... speakers... "
