This sort of links on to my other thread about the PCI-e mobos.

Im looking for a new gfx card, and im thinking of getting the Geforce 6800 GT or GS AGP.

However ive been told that in about 18 months AGP will be extinct and PCI-e will completely take over. Im wondering whether i should look for a PCI-e mobo which supports socket 478 but if no luck with that get a new processor and PCI-e mobo, or just go for the Geforce 6800 GT or GS and not bother with the PCI-e mobo and gfx card.

I'm thinking that in the long run it would be better to fork out that little bit extra and go for the whole package now, rather than wait 18 months.

What would you guys do in my situation?

PCI-E in my opinion it'd be better to have a system that you know you can upgrade the graphics card when the time comes whereas with AGP you know you'll need a whole new MOBO etc.

Yea thats what i was thinking, thanks.

Now i've got to find the best AMD 64 processor and PCI-e mobo for the best price, as it looks like i wont find a PCI-e mobo that supports socket 478, so ill need to fork out for both. So feel free to suggest some good ones ,

Thanks
