Ok, having never owned a SATA Hdd I've got some questions :
I currently have 2 IDE HDD's.. if I get a SATA drive can I still keep those and make the SATA one the primary drive?
If I get a SATA drive is it best to install games onto that drive and keep windows on a seperate IDE drive, or should I have windows on the SATA and games on the IDE etc ? (I know it'd probably be best to have both on SATA's)
I was just thinking of getting like an 80gb 8.9ms 8mb SATA drive and putting games on it to speed them up a bit if it'd help.

In your current setup I'd use a SATA disk as a games only disk, if you're going for speed tho, think about getting a WD Raptor.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

I was thinking of getting the 4th one down on here just for a cheap upgrade.. I'd rather use the £80 for a raptor on other stuff. Will this make a difference or isn't it worh it ?

Hmm, I'm not sure it is, load times might get better is that disk gonna be much use in your new system?
You need to get a disk that you cna get another of when you are ready for the total upgrade (maybe even 2 more)
Get a better disk, just not a raptor.
Might be worth seeing if SATA-II drives work on SATA interfaces.

if you deside to go down this rought, you'll have to disable the drives in BIOS and let windows pick them up, well i do anyway because the bios will try to detect them, and find no bootable OS, pain in the arese.

I dont understand ReOs, if you put a in new sata drive as the main drive then obviously its going to say it doesnt have windows on it as you would need to install it. If you didnt want it to boot of the new drive then you just need to fix the boot order in the bios surely?

No, thats not what i was saying sorry for the confusion.
its after you install windown on to your SATA
on my MoBO anyway, the boot priority is
HDD CD Floppy Other (usb, network ect)
there is no diffrence between HDD and no way to set SATA then ATA, so it trys to boots the the master ATA my Data drive. and because the boot drive is my SATA raid, it only tryes that if the ATA is not there. may just ve my MoBo tho.
