Well - I tried to hold out for the M2 AMD's but I caved in . I have a 6800 Ultra & my existing rig was far from slow ( AMD XP-M @ 2.4Ghz with a 1Gig of Corsair XMS3200LL ) but BF2 & FEAR have forced me to notch down the eye candy & guys it just bugged me to the point where I thought blow it I will buy another stick of ram for my Mobo & take a chance on it working . Only prob is the Abit NF7-S v2 only has 3 slots & the chipset (NF2 Ultra) does not like Double sided Dimms in all 3 slots . Any way a 1Gig of XMS was going to put me back £125 & I thought shoot I can get 2Gig of Crucial Ballistix which is a heck of a lot faster for £143 ... only problem is I need 4 slots & then I read some good stuf on the ASrock 939Dual-SATA2 ( it supports AGP & PCIe ) for only £43 ! The Athlon 64 3200+ has come down in price to £130 & the Venice is supposed to clock well so I thought oh well may as well go for it ... & so I did !!! Got the load from Dabs & I will tell you how I get on with the Overclocking once I have installed all my bits - I hear 2.6 - 2.7 Ghz is very achievable - dudes this could be AWSOME LOL & I can sweat my 6800 & then put in a good PCIe when the time comes. Any way I paid more for my RAM because I wanted to keep my old PC relatively complete as I play on both PC's ( I have a 6800 NU on my second rig ) so most people would not have spent the additional £143 on the RAM.

Ok have the CPU up to 2.6Ghz & Ram @ 520Mh@ 2.5-2-2-8 (T2) on stock cooler. Might try moving the internal clock higher as my RAM is at its limit .

Got my final results ... the system is running rock solid ( 10 hours of Prime 95 no errors ) at 2.65Ghz on tight timings & on the stock cooling , it never went over 51C - sheesh on a budget board & CPU !!! Will give some bench marks on games soon . I need to get back to BF2 now the rig is built & stable - L8ters .

Wouldn't worry too much about the frequency the memory runs at btw, esp if you're on dual channel, A64s have way more bandwidth than they need with dual channel so just keep the timings down, if you have to use a lower memory divider to get the cpu up higher do so, it won't make any measurable difference.
