Ok here is the scenario.

2x200gb IDE hdd, I want one as master and one as slave.

I set the hdd's to run as Cable Select, booted and the PC does not detect either hard drives, next i dispense with the CS option and decide to go master and slave with the jumpers. Again not detected.

So I runn one as master on its own and it detects it, run the other on its own as master, again it detects it.

The problem seems to lie with trying to run the two hdd's together.

I dont want any smart arse sata replys either, just some help or guidance please.

maybe you have a dodgy IDE cable?
How old is your motherboard and how new are your HDDs
I've known some motherboards to be very picky over age/make of HDD

mine did that at first, I set one up as master and booted the pc so it found it.. turned the pc off, set the other as slave and attached it.. and it worked fine.

It just didn't like detecting both at once for some reason.

shane when u say it aint detected it, what do u mean, does it show it in the bios or hardware manager and just not my computer. the reason i say this is when u get a new hard drive u will have to format it and set it as a active hard drive. its a setting in admistrative tools, get back to me if u want me to talk u threw it m8.

it's possible that the slave drive on the ide channel in question is set to 'none/disabled' rather than 'auto' in ur bios.

this would give the same results as the symptons u describe

I have this problem with my ide drives..

what you need to do is tell the BISO not to detect you slave, then windows will pick it up for you.
