never liked half life or ever really gave it the time of day tbh. This game is a standalone game tho right? no others needed to play?

it would appear getting bored and clicking launch made it decrypt some files, then downlaod from 98% at 800kbs instead of 0 from 65%. strange but effective.

Definitely going to have to get this.
What's the deal with the TF2 beta? When the final game is released, do you have to pay for that if you already have this beta? Are there a limited number of maps in the beta / other limitations that it won't have on release?

Quote: Mani Nope, just buy The Orange Box now and you can play TF2 beta right away Excellent. Buying that tonight then! The original TF really got me into multiplayer in a big way. Well, that and Duke 3D. Blimey, it's going to feel weird running around 2-fort again... can't wait! My steam ID is craigelaycock btw.

the maps are the same layouts but the new graphics and extra details confused me at first. I didn't even recognise Well or some of the other maps properly until I ran out there. I love the bullet time thing when you die and it shows who killed you and your stats for that life like kills and best score etc. If you set up your steam profile you get your profile avatars on the scoreboard and other details. I've linked to the gameslave site in mine I love it so much at the moment. The graphics are stunning and the new soundeffects are awesome. New maps are given a 2d birdseye view on loading and you get a little movie clip to watch the basics of the map if you've never played it before too. The spy is just lethal and so much fun to play, it's a lot different to before and takes some getting used to but being a spy is very satisfying. One bonus for me is that you don't have to hold the mouse button down for 4 hrs waiting for a target as a sniper just so you have the 100% damage bonus. It charges up the moment you zoom and if you stay zoomed it keeps that bonus until you shoot. People you kill a lot are 'dominated by you' and they get a bonus for seeking revenge on you too, all of which is announced by the voices ingame haha.
