Thought id just pop on here and add how very suprised i was to play red steel on the wii and totally enjoy a FPS experience without a mouse. The wii controller is very acurate and great for shooters. Brilliant for swordfighting of coarse, but much better than you would think for shooters. Roll on COD3 and far cry which until now, i hadnt considered buying the lad (its his wii, the best blag ever as i cant get bollocked for spending money on games for it)

Can't say I'm liking red steel very much. The controls seem to be a little too clumsy for me and sword fighting isn't all what I thought it would be. I think everyone knows my facination with swords and ninjas, so me not liking something like this is pretty rare...
Aiming is easy, though turning and aiming is whole different ball game. You almost always end up shooting at people in the corner of your eye. Though I still need to get used to it, I think people will be more surprised over how hard it is to control. There are a lot of ways of making it easier but I think Red Steel took the hard pointless route. Maybe FarCry will get it right...
I'll keep playing it though, see if I get any more used to it.

I didn't like red steel. I liked the shooting games on Rayman though so I was also thinking of getting COD3 for it. Rayman and family = hours and hours of wasted time over Christmas

the bit that really annoys me about red steel is the way you cant shoot the guys with swords. they have murdered your m8s kidnapped yor missus yet heaven forbid you shooting one that is trying to cut your head off ...
like the 360 i found the wii was better on a bigger TV as the ps3 only does 1080p and HD2 is coming i can see this trend going on and on and in a few years we will all have the hugest really high def TV's

Playing through the review copy of Red Steel as fast as I can since getting it other day. Have to say I'm actually enjoying it a lot, really seems to be a love or hate it type game.
Regardless, from playing this and COD3 on the Wii, it seems clear that in time an amazing fps will be released for the Wii. Controls are soooooooo much easier than using a pad for FPS

How long did it take you to get the hang of the controls?
I guess I started to hate it so much because it was so buggy. SO many framerate issues and little hicccups.

i agree the sword fighting is very dissapointing but the shooting is really good i think, controls took about 30 mins to get used to but i much prefer it than crappy inaccurate analogue stick aiming
