GRAW + Oblivion have made me think hard about performance requirements from my hardware. My PC is powerful though my GPU is merely a 6800 Ultra ! so not in the SLI league but at the resolution I play at 12x10 there was nothing I could not play with AA & AF turned on until now . Oblivion came along & will play OK at default quality settings but with HDR & at 12x10 not a major issue but I would have liked to have turned up the view distances & textures a bit further , GRAW on the other hand is clunky to the point where I just don't think its worth taking the experience any further than the Demo. Now if the only way I am going to be able to play the next gen games is by going SLI well ... it could be next gen console time because there is no way I am purchasing two video cards to run the like of these games . I understand the nVidia G80 is looking like a dual core GPU but that is some way away & it will probably cost twice as much as a console. This is really not good guy's not good at all for the gaming PC populace.

GRAW is just poorly optimised tbh and maybe Oblivion is the same.

Before you decide I'd wait and see what QW:ET and BF2142 bring. I imagine both will run fine on your PC at decent res's (Both are PC games from the outset)

PCs have always been more expencive than Consols, thats just the price wii pay for having the option to upgrade + the option of cutting edge tech.

but if you add the price of the game into the equasion and the fact that consl games are usaly watered down (so it wont last as long) in the long run it will even its self out (well no, but I keep telling myself thet )

jeez spit, put us all on a downer eh

Consoles are fun for sure but you cant beat sitting at the pc for some mindless shooting. There is another topic on these forums about how poorly GRAW runs...sit tight and wait and see on what the next line of games are like before making a judgement on your card and going SLI.

Im looking into buying a new GFX card myself but there is no way id pay over 250 quid for one nevermind 2 cards.

The way i look at it New consoles come out every 3-5 years or so. And at the end of their lifespan they are a bit shitty. PC's just need upgrading, and they do so much more than a console. Plus its not quite the same without all your buddies online playing with ya! So basically PC wins for me everytime. Plus im too lazy to turn console on and put in a disc over just turning my PC on (seriously)

Granted ReO the PC is more versatile but the thing which irkes me is the thought of shelling out £600 + for purely video HW
