I've been wondering whether or not we should give games a score in reviews, so as readers of the site, would you like us to give games a score? 0 --> 10 ?

Or are you happy with the good/bad points?

I quite like not giving it a score, it sets us apart, but i can equally see the merits of putting a score in.
Spose it forces people to actually read the review if you dont put a score either

I prefer good/bad points, gives you more information than just a number

I dont like scores myself.

Example being Half Life 2 would of scored 9.5 / 10, how do you top that? Then 12 months later another game comes along and blows HL2 away, cant really go much higher than the HL2 scores.

Yes HL2 would get 9.5 but it's only a score that's based on what has been before, not what is to come.

BF2 would have got a 9, possibly 9.5, Winter Assault an 8.5, Empire Earth 2 an 8.5 etc.

Maybe out of 5 would be simplier? I mean once you go to out of 10 you are basically giving a game a percentage in a sense which is why you start doing .5 's. If it was out of 5 they would be more like categories, very good, good, average .. etc. Would also make it easier to grade games if a great game got 9/10 and then there is another one thats slightly better you are forced to do 9.5 to show that when its really irrelevant, there are both great games.

I'm not sure if I really explained very well what I was thinking.. ah well
