Yeah i saw this the other day, not impressed at ALL. When you see it in-game you realise just how much like BF2 it is, just with different textures/models. Heck even the airbase looks like it's been ripped straight out of a BF2 map.

I also don't like the offset driving view on the APC, they couldn't even drive it properly themselves.

LOL you two ... I really don't care if it looks like a mod as long as plays well. I like the BF2 game play , if there was a Star Wars pro mod released tomorrow based on the BF2 engine & it was fun to play I would pay for it no problemo . No one is building anything based on the BF2 engine which makes me sit up & listen , so until something better comes along it looks like £20 well spent if this game delivers in the thrills department. PRM is just too slow for my liking & its just not fun unless your with an organized team . Nation At War is great fun & reminds me of BF2 prior to the nerfing i.e. much carnage but the servers are not abundant. Either way guys you can make the sweeping statements but without at least playing the demo your assumptions are just purely assumptions.

Mmm my I spent a bit to much energy on the last post , I should have summarized by simply stating " Err bollocks to what you two think I like it & I want to play it "

looks fun, Im more than happy to pay £20+ for this, ive had 550h+ of BF2 and true they nefted it in the later patches, but i was still a v-good year, so this will be money wellspent IMO.

my point is, why the **** should I pay for the essentially the same game with different textures, when EA have shafted BF2? This has got nothing to do with mods or whatever, i'm just astounded at how much like BF2 it seems to be. I'll pla the demo, but it's going to have to be a hell of a step on from Battlefield 2 to warrant a full price-tag.

This is the company who churns out 2 editions of FIFA a year, and tbh it feels BF is going the same way.

I agree with malis, if it's the same as bf2 like you're saying spit then I don't see the point in spending out money when there's so many many mods in development that in the next few months will come to life and hopefully get some attention.

Like malis I can't see why you want to buy it when you admit yourselves that it's just the same gameplay as BF2 and as it's by the same company you'll know they'll just nerf it and ditch it in just the same amount of time when they've decided to make "Battlefield 3 : Roman war" or something

So you two didnt get SF then?

As you said will come to life and hopefully get some attention.
- 2142 will have a client base from day one, with server that actualy have people on!

thats all i care about, I dont like the idea of playing a on-line game on my tod.

Yeah, but we all know that the "client base" for BF:2142 will be the same retards that ruined BF2 publics

SF is different, it was an extension of BF2, it didn't try to repackage itself as a new game totally when 2142 blatantly isn't a new game

IMO it's a complete pile of trash. It's basically the same shit repackaged and sold for £20. I don't see how someone could buy basically the same game again. I do not fork out godknows how much money on a PC just to get shit like this.

THIS is a mod.

But wait! It has brand new UI, front end and most likely more background movies!

Wow, if anything is worth £20 it's that!

As far as im aware you dont need HL2 to play ep1, maybe im wrong.

Edit..

from the amazon description..

NOTE: Half Life 2: Episode 1 is a stand alone game, does not require Half Life 2 in order to play

so no I would not say it was an expansion as you dont even need HL2!

It is an expansion, the same was with the Doom 3 expansion too. It's an expansion but still has the required Doom 3 files on the CD.
