D&D Online: Stormreach Preview
The combat system itself deserves a bit more coverage, it's completely different from what I have seen before in MMO's, resembling more than anything an action based game. You need to block at the right time, retreat from certain attacks and attack when you know monsters are most vulnerable. You know, there might actually be at least some skill involved in this MMO, playing longer than anyone else might not be the only key to success. I must say I quite enjoyed myself while playing the game and didn't feel like I was merely pressing "Attack" and waiting to see what happened.

you might as well play a team based game like neverwinter nights instead, at least that's free and you can either host a server with mates or play on some of the public ones. Having no PVP is just not what MMO's are about, the most fun is levelling up and then taking advantage of the high level pvp that goes on in the worlds.

i've played this and it has some very interesting ideas tbh. I dont agree that MMORPG is all about PVP, for me its about grouping with some mates and defeating a dungeon/quest whatever. PVP is a nice addition, a diversion to me.

However this game does have some issues which i agree dont seem to sit with a monthly payment. It is a non explorable game world essentially, with instanced quests based in town hubs. There is no economy or player crafted trade, and thus little interaction with people you dont know. I've been playing this in beta, and it looks gorgeous, and has some great ideas and VERY well designed dungeons, good fun with mates. BUt yes atm its hard to see how they can charge a monthly fee as you can get the same gameplay style from NWN
