Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Review
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising ReviewThank God for this game's multiplayer. All the bugs seem to matter a lot less when your hapless AI teammates are replaced with thinking, breathing human beings. Provided you can find three people who want to take game seriously, Dragon Rising becomes a blast. Planning assaults, executing sniper attacks, watching each other's backs, it all starts to make sense when you play the game with real people.

Sod co-op mp for me though, what you really want is 32 vs 32 on a dedicated server.

I agree with Andy on this, the Co-op is inspired when youre workign together, but otherwise the game lacks polish in a lot of areas

More than a lot of areas lack polish. I'm talking PC version here (even if they are the same game)

No joystick support, no freelook in vehicles, guns that fail to do damage in multiplayer (fixed in the patch soon apparantly) no dedicated servers, no joining games in progress, FOV set to 60 instead of 75-90 like nearly other FPS ever, vehicles controls are the worst in any game EVER, sniper rifle is way overpowered in multiplayer, the most comical animations ever when climbing over small objects, AI bots in PC multiplayer, a server browser that makes BF2's look good, only 11 very short missions, only 2 variations of maps for multiplayer, the faked screenshots and faked videos showing what was in the game that never appeared, the promise of dedicated servers being worked on for the pc version - and then another post saying they'd not even started work on them, the fact that you feel about 2 feet tall while playing thanks to the crappy FOV and models, no CD keys, no anti-cheat - pirated version plays fine online, Fraps is blocked from working, custom maps and missions have to be sent to every player 'cause they can't be downloaded off the host, no vehicles used in the missions except a jeep, textures that make halflife 1 look cutting edge...

etc etc etc.. I could go on for pages of all the shitness that they managed to bundle into on DVD. If you buy this then you're a moron, if you enjoy it then I question your taste in games.
