Guild Wars Review
Let's not beat around the bush here. This game is gorgeous. The backgrounds are immensely detailed and I often found myself just sitting on my chair admiring them. It is hands down the nicest MMORPG I have ever seen, in fact I would put it up there with Doom 3 and Half Life 2 for it's visuals.

The free thing almost got me playing an MMO, almost. Then I remembered I hate fantasy stuff, stabbing fairies and shit with sharp sticks aint my thing.

I found Guild Wars to be one of the best MMO out there... It not only has wicked graphics, and I don't think ANYONE could disagree with that. It also has a very twisting story line, allowing you to get into the game, and understand what life would be like inside it.

I hate to be the 'negative dude' on this one, but I give this game the same overall as I give WoW. But, firstly, it's in no way an MMO. There's no month after month character advancement and there is no crafting. Guild Wars is pretty much just Baldur's Gate or such made multiplayer.

The WoW comparison I give it is because it's all Oooh's and Aaaah's for a month, or two. Then you've completed the campaign on two characters and played the PvP a lot. Then you realise there's not much left to do.

For me, as with WoW, the game just got boring way too fast. And the community? Oh.. my.. god... So this is where the Diablo 2 Battlenet kiddies all ended up. No suprisingly, as this game is made by the guys involved in Diablo 2 I think, and it's pretty much what you'd expect for Diablo 3.

Graphics are amazing. Skills are a lot of fun... Storyline and questing is completely linear. Roleplay value (the indication of a true MMO) is zilch. Longterm playing is low.

I dunno. I just think, so

(ack, cut off haha)
I dunno, I just think, so much more can be done for the genre, and this is just another 'quick fix, get bored, move on' game. Ala WoW etc.

Anyways, peace.

I was debating with myself if i should get World Of Warcraft (highly commended but with high fees) Then this came out, Guild Wars, no online fees rocks and with a massive world which upon 1 month of playing i have still not completely uncovered, one server, Guild halls for your guilds, Guild capes, Pvp Rewards, Guild wars, amazing visuals, lots of armours, customisable weapons, runes for improvments, easy leveling, a Pvp arena against other countries, a hall of heroes, the l;ist just keeps going, it completely rocks! i tohught that i would get tired of this game, but istill havent, since the day i bought it to now, you just have to play it, knowing that maybe a guild battle is happening and they need your help, or that you need to complete a certain quest will have you playing for days, months and years on end!

from a person who has no interest in MMO, this game is incredible. I'm just playing the single player campaign, and although there are other players around in the interludes between the levels, they have had no bearing on my experience. I've had the game since last week and I've already gotten well over my monies worth. And I'm only on the third of twenty something missions. The writing in this game is very very good, no holds barred. The enemies are very very well done and convincing. Although you are selecting attacks/skills, etc adversed to hack and slash, it still holds up quite nicely. Very much enjoying it, and this is from a person who would never and will never play an online role playing game. A lot like diablo 2, where you have complete control over the camera/view etc. Like the reviewer for this site, I too have been just admiring the view on many occasions.

I really REALLY dislike MMORPG, it's just too slow, I like a fast paced game.. Such as CS1.6 or BF2, or even now and then UT2004

I would like to get into a game like this but the fact I only have time to play for a few hours each week means this type of game would prevent me from perfecting the other game's I currently own ( have still to finish Doom 3 resurrection of evil , Splinter Cell Chaos Theory & X2 the Threat !!! ) BF2 is my fave atm & will probably stay there for some time .
