Ship Simulator 2008 Review
Unfortunately, the title of the game is slightly at odds with how it handles. While hardcore simmers might expect a detailed simulation, playing Ship Simulator 2008 is more akin to taking your toy boat on the nearest lake. You move forwards, backwards, left and right and that's just about it really. It doesn't get any more complicated than that. There will be some (I'm thinking dads again) who will love this accessibilty, but this highly toned-down detail offers little to the hardcore community.

good review as ever, seems odd that you can't speed things up though. You'd think you'd have to be hardcore to put up with the slow pace, but it doesn't seem to be hardcore at all?

It is very odd. Looks like it's trying to appeal to everyone but just ends up a bit boring because of it. I should add that the mission editor will apparently be released with the August patch later this month. Wow.

I recently played the online spin-off title 'Microsoft IceBerg Simulator'. You do very little - you just sit there, watch your patch of cool water slowly condense. After a certain point when the indicator flashes on you menu bar you can hit 'Solid State'. After that you just make your fledgling 'berg swell and swell, maybe pick which of the northern Atlantic flows you want to wander about in. All very peaceful and serene, just being all cool and big and icy - and right out of the blue some tit called Captain Craig goes and rams his SimTitanic into your perfectly crafted 300 tone baby. Poor net-iquette I call it!

LOL! Tbh that game sounds more fun. I'd have sold my right arm for a 'solid state' button.
