SteelSound 5H USB Review
The virtual 7.1 sound worked perfectly, and was immediately obvious when a fighter roared directly overhead. Definitely a huge improvement over previous headphones I've used. I've no doubt that using this headset in a game like Counter-Strike would be tantamount to wall-hacking, such is the strength of its positional sound.

"Maybe a little expensive for the casual gamer " - so whats the price on thease bad boys?

not that i would spend lots on USB headphones, you can only plug them in to you PC, so they would be no good if you like me use your hp for your stereo/ TV.

The USB is optional Reo, the work fine on normal soundcards. And they are about £60

My plantronics ones are on their way out, so i might invest in a pair of these somewhere down the line.

Nice review.

Those are the non-USB ones bogie, the pair with USB soundcard are around £60.

No, the microphone is not noise cancelling as far as im aware, though it has settings for high and low sensitivity.

tbh for most of us that, the non-USB ones are a better bet?

Nice review mal, has to be said no way would I want a usb headphone. One thing I will say about the headphones however is that they are dog ugly, look really plastic and taccie. But hey you get what you pay for, for £60 you could almost get a pair of sennhieser 570's I would have been intrested in a side by side review of those. However i am sure the senn's would have won on the comfort and sound quality side as that is what they are designed for, and also do not come with a microphone. Still i am sure these headphones blow away the likes of planetronics, which you could not get me to use [worst headphones ever].

It looks like for the average gamer these headdies are a massive step up from planetronics and most gaming headphones.

Agreed, i think these are clearly intended for gamers and I think most would be pleased with this. Advantage of USB headphones is you can take them to LAN and have the exact sound you're used to at home, so again I think this is something for the LAN competetive crowd. I can only compare them to what I know and these blow away mid-range Senns comfort wise imo. Cant say i've ever tried higher price senns though.

I dont know how much easier it would be at a lan, as chances are your mouse would be usb and probs even your keyboard. Not all lans have more than two usb slots.
